so as most people know by now, we have moved over the (mississippi) river to the small town of Beebe, AR.
it's a small town about 30 minutes north of little rock. country, but close enough to the big city.
back in the spring, kevin was offered a job at arkansas state university-beebe as assistant professor of history and comparative religion. after a quick day trip over so the rest of the family could get a feel for what it might be like to live in a small town and prayer for guidance and wisdom, he accepted the job, and we began the arduous task of moving our family.
we house hunted in beebe. we found one we loved. we hadn't even put our house on the market yet.
we made an offer anyway. after some back and forth, it was accepted.
we got our bartlett house on the market as for sale by owner. within a couple of weeks, we had a contract on it.
all seemed to be going smoothly.
we left town for two weeks in june to visit family, expecting to close on the bartlett house the third week of june and the beebe house the last week of june. zee traveled back from NC to TN with us to help us pack and move, which was an amazing help! (it turns out we really have a lot of stuff.)
then the closing on bartlett got moved. to the end of july.
and the house in beebe turned out to have an issue with the title. one that could be resolved, but it would take time. as in 60-90 days.
you can imagine, at this point we were at our wits end. our bartlett house was a mountain of boxes and we were just stuck in limbo. thankfully, we were able to secure early occupancy for the beebe house and took the week of july 4th to move! also thankfully, kevin's parents came up at the last minute to help us, we wouldn't have made it without them!
so we have spent the month of july getting our feet under us again. closing proceeded on the bartlett house on july 22, and now we are just waiting for the september 3 court date to get the title issue cleared so we can close on september 5 here. it's been such an insane few months, but it's also been an exciting time for our family. we adore our new house, we have found a church, and school starts up for everyone on the 19th.
i'm going to spend the next few posts on pictures of various rooms in the house, as we finish them. leah's room is first since we had everything we needed in there already. faith is waiting on a few bookshelves, and the other rooms are getting there, slowly but surely!
So, so happy that you guys are settling in and your lives are a little smoother now. So glad Zee was able to be there to help with the packing and we could make it for the move. Everything worked out for the best. God is good!!!
