winter wonderland

friday morning, a winter storm arrived in the midsouth and left in its wake ice, sleet, snow and sundry other kinds of frozen precipitation, effectively closing down the greater memphis area for the weekend. schools were closed friday, and saturday everyone stayed close to home playing in the snow (rather, the ice), and many churches, including ours, have already cancelled services on sunday. in past winters, faith has had little to no interest in venturing out into the lovely white stuff, but today when i mentioned it, she decided to give it a shot!

the yard was basically a sheet of ice about an inch thick with a little dusting of snow on top, not super fun to play in, but faith didn't know any better!

everything was dripping with icicles and the trees were encased in ice.

there wasn't enough snow to make a snowman or anything, but it was just enough to make a snow angel!

we didn't stay out long, but it was fun! then we came inside and had some hot chocolate with whipped cream, my favorite part of a snow day. :)

  1. Looks like fun! Greenville has some ice and snow as well...........northern Gville County has snow but our yard has a little snow but more ice. the ground is white. Aunt Lou and Uncle Chris are in the mountains playing in the snow! As for Zee and Pops, we have stayed in all day, except that Pops went out and melted the ice in the birdbath for the birds. Hot chocolate sounds like a pretty good idea! Looks like Faithy had fun..............
